Das Webbasierte MySQL-Administrationstool phpMyAdmin geht mit einer ersten Alphaversion (3.0.0) in die nächste Runde. phpMyAdmin ist in PHP geschrieben und ist in 55 Sprachen verfügbar, es steht unter einer GPL Lizenz.

Die neue Versionsnummer bringt einige neue Funktionen zur Unterstützung von MySQL 5.1 Features mit, sowie support für die neue Storage Engine Maria. Die neue Vesion bietet auch Features für die Unterstützung der PrimeBase XT Storage Engine, sowie die Unterstützung für eine Swekey-Authentifizierung. Die neue Version Artet auch mit einer weiteren Unterstützten Sprache auf Bengalisch. Falls sich jemand fragen sollte wie Bengalisch aussieht, hier ist ein Beispiel:

"Ich liebe dich auf Bengalisch"

Die Storage Engine Mariaist im Weitesten sinne eine absturzsichere Verbesserung der MyISAM Engine. Verbesserungen wären zum Beispiel recovery support, im Falle eines System Crashs, Erweiterte logging Funktionen und das neue Maria Zeilen Format.
